We Can’t Help But Share King Charles’ Strange Eating Habits

Since succeeding his mom on the throne in September 2022, all eyes have been on King Charles. Now, virtually every aspect of the monarch’s life is under the spotlight, including his dietary routines. Given Charles’ new position, a healthy, balanced diet is more important today than it’s ever been. But as we’re about to find out, his eating habits are truly strange, even for royalty!

His strange routine

Let’s dive into it, then. We’ll be running through Charles’ daily diet from breakfast to dinner, covering the snacks he enjoys in-between as well. Quite frankly, we’d be amazed if any of you shared a similar routine to the U.K.’s new King — it’s unique, to say the least. So, let’s start with the monarch’s morning menu. What’s on it?

Breakfast or “bird food”?

Well, as Charles sits down to listen to the morning headlines on the radio, he’s served a bowl of cereal grains and wheat germ. Nope, the King doesn’t tuck into a fried breakfast at the table! In the past, Prince William supposedly described these dishes as “bird food,” and we can see why. There is a bit of a resemblance. But he seems to prefer a bowl of grains and germs to a plate of steaming bacon.

Specific servings

Despite his son’s teasing, Charles has stuck with this meal for years, drizzling a bit of honey over the top, too. It might not look like a traditional breakfast, but the King clearly likes it. And that isn’t the only thing that he eats in the mornings. The U.K. sovereign also tucks into fruit. Mind you, it has to be served in a very specific way.

Seasonal salads

Yes, Charles is a big fan of breakfast fruit salads, but only if the fruit itself is in season. We hope his chef has a seasonal chart to follow in the kitchen! Speaking of which, a cook who used to work for the royal family shared some really bizarre information about one of the King’s other preferences. His name is Darren McGrady.
